Every year the SBC juniors go on a training camp in France, and this year was no exception. 24 rowers and 6 parents/coaches travelled out to Joue de Bois, where we stay in our coach's house and rowed on a water skiing lake.
There are 2 training sessions a day, both on the water and over the week we rack up 150km of rowing. All that know us, we're not kidding, we do really row that far! But don't worry we still have loads of fun along the way.
Whats happening here then?
Fun on the ferry and park on the way
What do you spend the left over euros on? CHOCOLATE of course!
The Lake
We visited the local lake(not the one we row on) for a relaxing trip out. Yeah right!
The lads started with some stream hopping, just to get warmed up.
The water was absolutely freezing, but that didn't stop us from going in. Three lads were brave or stupid enough (havent decided yet) to go for a swim, while the girlies in the pic went for a paddle.
Thanks go out to pete, who bought us all an ice-cream after our cool dip in the lake.
Awww, Dan almost looks cute. I wonder what he's thimking about?
At the house
The local church in the middle of the village.
A couple of the lads slept outside in tents as there wasn't room in the house. Not sure I would have enjoyed it - look at the frost!
The girlies had a midnight feast after a trip to the supermarket. Chocolate, biscuits and sweets all round. Can you see the pile in the middle of the bed? We had lots of laughs that night!
Rowing at the water-ski lake
Land ahoy! Well beached lads! Don't worry, pete's leading the rescue mission! It was funny really!
<-- This is where we boat on and off.
Look, we did go rowing on this trip! Freds there, as always, coaching us all the way.
Even though this is the serious part of the trip, we still find ways to have fun. Something Al's sat on is obviously bothering him, and dan's giving something a good tug!
The beach
It might look sunny, but I promise it was absolutely freezing at the beach. Most of us went for a swim while the french watched on, wearing coats and scarves.
Being a sporty lot, the lads decided to play rugby. Not to be out done, the girls wanted a game too. Who says girls can't play rugby? We had a great laugh.
The duck tape wallet, made by Dan!
Many of us had charlies brownie for desseert.
Our annual trip to the buffalo grill, was as filling as ever, and a brilliant end to the week.
Honestly lads, we can't take you anywhere! How did you manage to break that chair?
Spot the one who isn't a member of the SBC!
